Start with the material
Provide the exact alloy designation, required chemistry or governing specification and its revision. A family such as nickel or titanium is a starting point, not a complete purchase specification.
Define the particle requirements
State the required particle size distribution and units. Include morphology, flow and density criteria when required by your process, together with the applicable measurement methods.
Identify the process
Name the receiving process and any equipment-specific material requirements. For 3D printing, include the approved powder specification. A coating powder should not be assumed suitable for a printing process.
State the commercial requirements
Include quantity, packaging requirements, delivery destination and requested date. Separate an evaluation quantity from anticipated recurring orders.
List the documents
Identify the technical data sheet, safety data sheet, certificate of analysis or lot records your purchasing requirements call for. Confirm which documents are available for the quoted material before ordering.
